The transition Daycare classroom is among one of the most important times for your child’s cognitive development. It is in this classroom that a true foundation in academic, cognitive, social, and emotional skill is created. It also, provides the 2 1/2 year old with gentle transition designed with the nurturing characteristics of the younger toddler classroom, but with a broadened focus developmentally. The child is actively seeking out information and rapidly learning spoken language during this time, unlike before he or she had only communicated through non-verbal cues. A two year old child craves independence, knowledge, order, consistency and exploration of their environmental surroundings. The transition environment is carefully prepared for children to explore safely and achieve these developmental ideals while the child prepares for entrance to the Preschool Program. Before moving on to a more advanced learning program, children will be better able to process, make sense of the order of their surroundings, and develop necessary social and emotional skills.

During this transition time, we will work with each child on tasks such as building self-confidence, personal discipline, fine and gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and potty training. Providing order within their environment (cleaning up), listening, following directions, and sharing with others. The main curriculum that will be learned in this classroom is Sensory and Practical Life tasks as well as social grace and courtesy.
