Montessori Preschool Learning Program For Ages 3-6

When children come to our Preschool they enter a Children’s House where children as young as three and as old as six, learn side-by-side. Younger children observe harder lessons and get excited about moving up to the next level of task; while older students become self-confident in guiding younger peers. By grouping the children in this age group helps the teachers guide the children in a continuous progress of each child in the most productive and nurturing manner.

The children’s House (our preschool) is a place of multisensory learning in which are arranged into four main subject areas. These subject areas are Practical Life Education, Sensorial Education, Education for the Development of the Logical/ Mathematical Mind, and Education for Language Development. Weekly lessons may also, include fun activities such as music, art, cooking and gardening.

During this period of rapid social and emotional development, hands-on activities keep children in touch with learning as they build concentration and an increasing sense of order. The Preschool curriculum and principles are designed to enrich characteristics that play a critical role in intellectual growth such as self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-control. When young children show these qualities, they feel good about themselves and interact appropriately with their environment and peers, with little need for disciplinary tactics.

Everything has a purpose at what we do in a Montessori Preschool (Children’s House). Teachers present lessons according to a sequential plan to each child. Then observe the interest and ability of each child to those lessons. The children learn at their own rate and self-select the lessons that best match their current abilities, and desires. Conventional educational methods and the Montessori principles are combined to allow teachers to guide each child along his or her own path of learning and achievement.
